Stript vs. anonymization.ai (Glanos): desktop app or enterprise platform?
anonymization.ai (Glanos) is an enterprise anonymization platform: SaaS hosted in Germany or on-premise Docker, sold via demo. Stript is a self-serve desktop app where documents never leave the device. A factual comparison.
Updated
The short version: anonymization.ai by Glanos (Glanos GmbH, Munich) is an enterprise anonymization platform, delivered as SaaS hosted in Germany or as an on-premise Docker deployment, and sold through a demo-based sales process. Stript is a self-serve desktop app for individual professionals and small teams, where all processing runs on the user’s own machine. They overlap in what they do (detect and pseudonymize personal data in documents) and differ sharply in how, and for whom.
All statements about Glanos below come from Glanos’s own public pages (glanos.de/anonymization-ai, where anonymization.ai redirects), accessed July 10, 2026. If anything is outdated, tell us at [email protected] and we will correct it.
Architecture and deployment
- Glanos offers a web app for manual review and an API for automated pipelines, as “SaaS in Germany” with German hosting providers or on-premise via standardized Docker containers. In the SaaS variant, documents are transmitted to Glanos for processing; the on-premise variant keeps them inside the customer’s own server infrastructure. Detection uses a model developed in-house by Glanos.
- Stript is a desktop application for Apple-silicon macOS, Windows x64, and Linux x86_64. There is no shipping server variant: inference models run on the user’s device, verifiable in the network traffic. How to check it yourself.
An on-premise Docker deployment and an on-device desktop app both keep data in-house, but they serve different situations: one is an infrastructure project for an IT department; the other installs in minutes on a single professional’s machine.
Buying and pricing
- Glanos publishes no self-serve signup; entry is via a scheduled demo. Its site describes pricing as calculated by pages and users, with entry-level packages for small businesses under €100 per month and volume pricing above that. Certification: audited to ISAE 3402 Type 2 (per its site), DPA and professional-secrecy (§ 203 StGB) agreements available.
- Stript is self-serve: download, use the permanent free tier (5 documents/month, no account), and upgrade to Pro at €470/year or €49/month with unlimited documents. No demo call, no setup fee, no per-page metering.
Languages and formats
Glanos supports eight languages per its site (DE, EN, ES, FR, IT, PT, NL, SV, more on request) and a broad format list including Office formats, PDFs and scans, emails, and XML, with layout-preserving processing. Stript focuses deliberately on German and English, and processes PDF, Word, email (.eml/.msg including attachments), scanned documents via on-device OCR, and plain text, with format-preserving Word/PDF/email export.
If you need Spanish or French anonymization today, Glanos covers languages Stript does not. If your documents are German or English, Stript’s pipeline is purpose-built for exactly those, including German legal identifiers like Aktenzeichen.
The round trip to an LLM
Stript is built around one specific workflow: anonymize, paste into ChatGPT/Claude/any LLM, paste the answer back, restore the originals with one click, including as a format-preserving file. Glanos describes pseudonymized output whose attribution remains possible via a separate mapping table; its platform is oriented toward anonymization pipelines and review workflows rather than a built-in LLM round trip.
Where Glanos may fit better
If you are an organization that needs API-driven anonymization at volume, in eight languages, integrated into automated pipelines, with an enterprise sales process, references, and an ISAE-audited provider, Glanos is built for that market, and an on-premise Docker deployment can satisfy strict in-house requirements at the infrastructure level.
Where Stript fits better
If you are a lawyer, DPO, tax advisor, or practice owner who wants to start today, without a procurement project: Stript installs like any app, the free tier lets you validate it on real documents immediately, and the on-device architecture means the compliance assessment is short, since document content never reaches any provider. For the specific job of using ChatGPT and other LLMs safely with client documents, the built-in restore round trip is the workflow, not an add-on.

Bottom line
These products mostly serve different buyers. If your organization is procuring an anonymization platform for pipelines and volume, evaluate Glanos. If you personally need to use AI with sensitive documents, starting today, with content that provably never leaves your machine, that is the case Stript was built for.
